Old guys Tom Finnan (Roger Lloyd-Pack) and Roy Bowden (Clive Swift) share a house. Tom had moved into Roy's home after the latter's wife Penny had left him. Sally (Jane Asher) lives next door and both men are attracted to her. Tom's daughter Amber (Katherine Parkinson) dates Phil, the local vicar. Roy believes that he is extremely intelligent.
