Ravi confirmed that talks were on with Sony and the creatives are being discussed. “Fingers are crossed, but when we come back it will be with a bang,” he said. The show debuted in 1995 and it was re-launched by Sony TV in 2003 and has become the longest lasting dance show in India.

Naved said, “Yes, talks are on and if everything goes right we will be back soon. But we haven’t yet finalized much details so you will have to wait for that. Starting something from a scratch is very difficult, you make innovations, test it- then you fail but finally when your efforts show colours, it definitely is a great feeling. Taking a readymade format is easy but we know what we had put in for the show back then.”

No doubt the show is hugely popular and it will be welcomed warmly by its fans but since it is coming back after a gap of 3 years, many other dance reality shows like DID etc. have cropped up which garner good TRPs for their channels. Boogie Woogie makers will have to surely upscale the standards of the show with innovative formats to battle against the existing dance shows.

By the way the twist in the tale is yet to come, the major highlight of Boogie Woogie Javed Jaffrey whose name is synonymous with the show won’t be a part of it in the upcoming season. When asked about it Jaaved sounded quite nonchalant and unmindful about not being associated with a show that he had co-founded. “Yes, I heard Boogie Woogie is making a comeback but I am not a part of it in any capacity,” Javed said.

Well, I guess the show will be incomplete without him. He is such a good dancer and a befitting judge. I am excited for the fresh season, hope you all are too eagerly waiting for it. Let’s see who will replace Javed’s magic in the show.
