It seems that quitting serials is becoming the new age concept of gaining popularity? Many leading TV male artists have quit the serials in the past and also doing the same currently. Can it be a stunt to inch those dipping TRP’s or could it be a genuine Bollywood calling?
Amar Upadhyay aka Mihir Virani was the first to generate a furor over his scripted death in ‘Kyunki saas bhi kabhi bahu thi’. The audience went berserk and created a huge chaos, charting the TRP’s to a new scale, and soon the makers had to bring him back. Since then the concept of male stars quitting shows is seen quite prominently, to inch those falling TRP’s.
However, there are many male actors, who are calling it quits owing to some meaty roles offered to them in Bollywood movies. For instance, lately Barun Sobti or Arnav Singh Raizada had to end the popular show, ‘Iss pyaar ko kya naam doon’, because of his busy schedule in Bollywood. He will be seen opposite Shehnaz Treasurywala in Main aur Mrs. Riight. There is another film called ‘22 yards’ up his sleeve, which is under pre-production.
Sushant Singh Rajput too had to call it quits from playing ‘Manav’ in ‘Pavitra Rishta’ because of ‘Kai Po Che’, which has grabbed him, huge media hype and star attraction. Although the audience craved for the original ‘Manav’, they did not complain when they found him in another attractive re-incarnation on celluloid. Sushant will be next seen in some plum roles along with Aamir khan and Anushka Sharma in Peekay and with Parineeti Chopra in Yash raj’s next untitled venture.
Karan Kundra is the next one in the offing too, who has declared that he is calling quits from ‘The serial’, which is shown on Channel V. However, he will continue to be on ‘Gumraah-the end of innocence’. He has grabbed a role in a film opposite Kangna Ranuat, where he will be shown in a rockstar avatar.
Despite male actors quitting silver screen, there are actors, who are veteran artists and continue to beautifully balance both their silver screen and celluloid careers with panache. Actors Ram Kapoor and Ronit Roy are known to be contemporaries, both on silver screen and celluloid. The actors have played meaty roles on silver screen and yet, do substantial roles in Bollywood films. Though they take a break, it has never been a permanent good bye to either.
Actor Ronit Roy will once again be taking a break from ‘Adaalat’, but it will only be for a month, to manage his schedule for an upcoming Bollywood movie.
Whether it’s for TRP or a genuine Bollywood project in hand, male actors are calling quits from leading male protagonists’ role every now and then. We just hope that the audience sees their favorite male actors in some lovable performance elsewhere, if not on their favorite shows and save all that heartache.

“Nache re Nache Madhubala”…well this show definitely knows how to dance in the hearts of its viewers. The leads has finally fallen in love and as it happens before a proper onset of their romance the villain has entered to disturb the sugar and spice relationship.
The best part of the show…undoubtedly the dialogues, and to deliver these intelligent, full on attitude filled dialogues the actors should be given full 100% credit. Hope next year brings more fun dialogues, romance and entertainment to show.

If you noticed the run time of this show and believed that I have made a mistake and this show should be in the other section…nah nah nah this show definitely belongs here, the second season of the show is over but the popularity and viewership that it has acquired a season 3 is almost in the pipeline. So when in next year, I have no idea but this show is seeing 2013 for sure.
The series is based in the fictional, Royal Academy, a once prestigious school which is looking to regain its lost glory. The students are bright but reckless without a force to guide them. So a plan is chalked down to bring back the best of the old alumni to guide the new.

The Serial – Run Time – November 26, 2012 – Present
In our review post of this show we mentioned that ‘The Serial’ is almost the middle path of two leagues of serials – reality and fiction. It is fiction with real characterization, a show that will introduce the real reel side of your favourite actors.
Glamour, conspiracy, politics, attitude and all that is said about the ‘industry’ has its well balanced quotients in this show…the only question although is how long will all this make the audiences stick to their TV sets, waiting and watching.
It is about three friends who come from diverse backgrounds and proclaim themselves as each other’s ‘BestFriendsForever’. But a dark secret will change their relationship with each other forever. Will this flout the norm that only lucky people are born to get true best friends?
Channel V has an identity of Musical Channel but from quite a while it’s on its way to add more to its portfolio. This show is youth oriented and on the line of English shows like gossip girls and other, along with the story the concentration is also on fashion and all. Well although the show is in its baby suit right now, so all we can do is wish it a happy and a prosperous New Year.

Coming to the report, in HindiGECs, last week Bade Acche Laggte Hain (Sony TV) with 10.36 ratings! And this week also, it tops the list but ratings have fallen! Didn’t you all like the drama in the show? It was hyped a lot! There was this huge buzz about the combo episode of Kyaa hua Tera Vaada and Bade Acche Lagte Hain. We were hoping, with high hype and high drama points, the ratings will rise, but unfortunately it’s opposite.
Lot of other shows have listed in top 10 shows which were not there last week. For example Pavitra Rishta and Punar Vivah. Guess, the small time leap in Pavitra Rishta is appreciated! Veera and Sasural Simar Ka entered the top 10 list for the first time and drama in both the shows is being liked. Kudos to the team!
In the news section, Bulletin (Zee News) and Fatafat (ABP News) tops the list. But, again, a lot of programs are listed this time in top ten for the first time! This section too, is pacing up! Ratings are higher as compared to last week!
Also, in Reality shows Crime Patrol (SonyTV) has again gained back its number one position with higher ratings this week (10.3). Also, couple of good shows have been listed for the first time in top 10, even one from Discovery Turbo. This purely depicts, loyal viewers never forget to “tune in” for their favourite show!
Over all, we have got less numbers as compared to last week. Please keep on tuning in your favourite shows and only YOU are responsible for the increase or decrease. This is just the second step to the beginning, well, what we can say – Revolution has already begun! YOU just have to BE a part of it!
