New vs Old: Roadies 10 to witness Ultimate face off between Raghu and Rannvijay

Fresh concept with a twist of old rawness- that is new MTV Roadies X Season 10 for you! One of the oldest reality shows on Indian idiot box is ready to make a bombastic come back this year. Season 10 will witness the most unpredictable face-off challenge between the mastermind of MTV Roadies and its first winner the host of this show Rannvijay. The ‘Battle for Glory’ Roadies Season 10 has already begun in the auditions phase, which started in October this year.

The idea is simple but crude, MTV Roadies Season 10 will have two teams, the new daredevil Roadies selected by Rannvijay and Raghu will bring in his old warriors –ex-Roadies who were the most popular bad boys/girls on the show. I think this mind-boggling concept will surely hit the bull’s eye by garnering TRPs by its ugliest war on TV. The oldies will fight against the new blood to survive. It will be actually the survival of the fittest on Roadies-10.

It will be interesting to see Raghu v /s Rannvijay in the fresh season. We have always seen them supporting each other’s opinions but it will be a visual delight to see them fighting for their teams. Of course, Raghu knows his ways to dominate the person standing in front of him but Rannvijay is the first winner of Roadies and will be able to pass on his expertise to the contestants. Rannvijay has experienced the most dreadful Journey of Roadies-1 and he will surely rub off his good luck and winning techniques to his team. Raghu on the other hand will prepare his old army with new surviving tricks but at the end, it will depend on the contestants who will face the real struggle.

Season 10 of Roadies will be an ecstatic watch due to its new format. It is ready to excite viewers by rich content, totally loved by young boys and girls. Completing 10 successful years in an industry, dominated by daily soaps, is not an easy deal but Raghu and Ram have created a big landscape for themselves.

It is indeed a landmark for Roadies to complete a decade on TV. This Youth oriented show has won several hearts and youngsters are ready to do anything to become a part of it, which for them is the short cut to name, fame and stardom. In fact there are many who run from pillar to post to clear the auditions, if they don’t get selected at one city then can be seen trying their luck at next audition destination.

I will surely wait eagerly to see each episode and the process of selection too. The contestants selected for the real fight will have immense pressure to face the old Roadies who will have advantage of their previous experience; hence, it will certainly make the journey of Roadies more gruesome.

Let us see how Rowdy Raghu and Rannvijay will battle in the biggest battleground of small screen. I will only say ‘May the Best Man wins!’

Bigg Boss 6 – Sampath eliminated, Sidhu walked out & a new wild card entry; Bigg Boss is on a roll!

Well as this is our post Diwali blog so we hope you all had a great Diwali! The last week was full of surprises and shocks in Bigg Boss house. There were just too many things that happened. Friday’s elimination, one of the contestants had to leave suddenly and then there was another wild card entry, then the nomination special for this week and finally Diwali celebrations for the house inmates.

Let us give you a small recap as to what happened last week in Bigg Boss 6. We asked our viewers in our last post: “Bigg Boss 6: Jumme ki Raat Salman ke Saath – Who will be eliminated today?” that who will be evicted:  Sapna, Sampath and Vrajesh?

So let’s have a look what all happened last week:

Sampath Pal Devi Eliminated:

Yes finally she is out and she was eliminated in Friday’s elimination episode. Well nobody in Bigg Boss have had faced more embarrassing moments than Sampath. Her eviction was also pretty obvious as being such a strong woman she showed a very vulnerable side of her and probably that made her eviction evident. After coming out she has also made remarks saying that “Bigg Boss cheated”. It is a very sad story of “Grapes gone sour” yet again!

Navjot Singh Sidhu left Bigg Boss house due to his political commitments:

This was indeed very sad as he was one of the participants who brought some sense to the otherwise senseless fights and arguments among the house inmates. He was always the ‘peacemaker’ and somehow managed to be right always. He had his share of negative points from the viewpoint of other contestants as he never used to help in any household chores and that he was given ‘God’ like figure for no reason. But I think that these reasons hardly affect the viewers outside the Bigg Boss house. He won a lot of love and respect for himself. It was a very emotional moment for everyone when he told them that he has been asked to come back because of his political commitment.

One leaves & one enters the Bigg Boss house: Vishal Karwal enters as another Wild Card Entry:

Do you remember Vishal from MTV Roadies and he was also the winner of MTV Splitsvilla? Yes, Vishal is the latest entry in Bigg Boss house and is all ready to charm the ladies of the house with his ‘dimpled’ smile ;) . He entered the house on the same day when Sidhu left. As always the contestants who are already there in the house are skeptical about this new entry as he has an advantage that he knows everything happening inside.

Nominations for this week:

Bigg Boss gave Urvashi the same special power as Aashka to give name of any one participant who will be nominated directly for elimination this week. Urvashi mentioned Sapna’s name and the rest house inmates went through the normal nomination procedure. So after the nomination procedure finally Sapna, Aashka, Niketan and Vrajesh have been nominated for elimination this week.

Bigg Boss has entered its 6th week and the participants are ready to celebrate Diwali first time inside the Bigg Boss house without their closed ones but Bigg Boss has a surprise for them. Raghu, Rajiv and Rannvijay…the trio has been entertaining the youth of the nation and taking MTV’s programming to a new level season by season.

For those who want a chance to be a Roadie or just want to see the making of one, there’s good news as the boys are back with season 10!

With every new season Roadies offer something different; this time being no different the Roadies team is all set to bring in a face- off challenge like nothing one has seen before as it will be a Battle for Glory.

The Theme this Season: Battle for Glory

The mastermind of MTV Roadies is challenged by the boy who won everyone’s hearts in his debut season – Raghu v/s Rannvijay, with ‘Battle for Glory’ in MTV Hero Roadies Season 10. A brand new concept has been mapped out to take the competition to a new level – ‘MTV Hero Roadies X – Battle for Glory’.

This season contestants will need more than just the right attitude to get selected as a Roadie; this time there are 2 teams, the new Roadies who will be selected will be on Rannvijay’s team while Raghu will have a team of ex-Roadies who have had an interesting journey on the show. So in short its Ranvijay’s wannabe Roadies vs. Raghu’s All Star Roadies.

With a completion of a decade, Roadies will see an ultimate face off between Raghu and Rannvijay where only the strongest will live to tell the tale. Team Roadies Elaborates about the season 10

Raghu Ram, the producer of MTV Hero Roadies says,

“This year, Roadies completes a decade as the definitive reality show for the youth of India. And in its 10th year, Roadies enters the new era, where the new struggles with the old for its true place. Is it time for a new generation of Roadies? This question will be answered as Rannvijay, the mainstay of Roadies, takes on the old establishment and its way of getting things done. This season is all about the winds of change, as the new challenges the old in a battle for glory.”

VJ Rannvijay explains,

“Raghu and I have always been on the same team. This is the first time that we will be competing against each other due to conflict of opinion. The decade season of MTV Roadies will be packed with excitement and thrill, like all other seasons. I am sure the fans of the show will enjoy and look forward to the season.”

Mr. Aditya Swamy, EVP and Business Head – MTV India explains,

“This year we celebrate the decade of a cult called Roadies and of our 10 year partnership with Hero. We call this season Roadies X and this signifies a start of a new era in the journey of Roadies. WOW!!! We appreciate the minds of Roadies creative team, how original to bring back your all stars :) …jokes apart, well most interesting will be whom they bring and how will the newbie’s adjust with the All Stars and how will Raghu and Ranvijay handle rivalry, both are competitive souls; so it would not be shocking that instead of the participants they start a fight more often and trust me you will definitely have to close your ears when they fight or either the whole episodes will be filled with Beeps. As we always say only time will tell, but now IT’S TIME TO BATTLE FOR GLORY ONLY ON MTV HERO ROADIES SEASON 10!

Television’s very own Super Hero – Arjun on Star Plus

Superman, Spiderman, Iron Man, Superman!! Well today we are talking about Indian Television’s very own Super Hero with natural powers. Yes we are talking about the new show ‘Arjun‘ on Star Plus. Arjun Raute is a rebellious cop with an attitude. He becomes a part of Emergency Task Force (ETF) and solves mysterious crime investigative cases, which no one else can. But he doesn’t hesitate to break any rules of the system and only believes in solving the crimes and helping the victims or affected families.

Well as expected Arjun has earned a bad name for himself in the department and is thought to be the most unlikely candidate to head the ETF. But his ability to solve the case, his skills and technique is incomparable and so he has been chosen. He is accompanied by an equally capable ETF team and together they will help fight crime and criminals. Well there have been many crime based serials running on television at this moment. But what is so different about this new show? As seen the previous episodes, this new show had never-seen-before scale of production stunts, exquisite locations and visuals. The program incorporates real life problems, including human trafficking. 

So who is the cast of this Show? Well the main hero, Shaleen Malhotra, who was one of the contestants on ‘MTV Roadies’ and a VJ on some other shows, is seen as a dashing crime busting superhero. Talking about who will support Arjun during his journey, we have Riya aka Sana Khan. She is known for her roles in television series such as Kitani Mohabbat Hai Season 2 and Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon and for participating in the Femina Miss India 2012 pageant.

The first episode aired on 11th Aug was about Arjun‘s journey to uncover a human trafficking ring. Well each episode promises to bring in interesting new story in which Arjun as well as the Emergency Task Force Team try to get rid of the world from all sorts of crimes. In simple words, Arjun is unstoppable, merciless, and aggressive. Well Arjun seems to be a promising new show and hope that it carries on with the same bang with which it started. “Toh samjhe…ya samjhaoon?” – Arjun

What TV viewers think about lack of creativity in Indian GEC content

This is a very prominent comment we hear from GEC viewers these days- “After initial 4-5 months or 100 odd episodes, all GEC soaps start looking similar and boring”. Till now the producers were complacent and thought “all-is-well”, but not anymore..

Well one of the reasons why TV channels do not care about this is because they think once they build a fan-following for a show, the fans are going to remain loyal and drive the TRPs in anticipation of a fresh storyline (which seldom happens). So for past 4-5 years this trick has been working, but as show makers got smart, audience has become smarter. With more and more choices these days in so many genres and with smart TV guides, the audience is getting so many options to switch. And once they switch they realize that it’s not that hard, because when they try to get back to their favorite serial they find that the story has hardly moved ahead. This makes their decision of switching to a new program even stronger.

iDubba ran a survey on this and found very alarming results (100 people filled it in one day)-

Let us take the example of some TV shows and try to dig deep:

Set in rural Rajasthan, ‘Balika Vadhu’ traces the arduous journey of child bride Anandi from the brink of childhood to womanhood. It recently completed 1000 episodes; which is outstanding! From day one till date, it has been maintaining its position in top 10 shows. The show started with a very fresh and a different storyline which made colors TV what it is today.

But let’s see what viewers think about the show these days:

  • Do you think the track is still interesting?

  • What do you like most about the show?

Results: People switching. Track is not interesting

It also completed 900 episodes which is outstanding! When it was launched, it had a simple story of a couple indulging into an arrange marriage and their life post marriage. The USP of the show was its ‘simplicity’ and ‘no negative’ character which turned out to be a new flavor for the show. And undoubtedly, the show has maintained its position in top 10 shows but now it just feels like been there done that.

Viewers’ POV:

  • Do you think the track is still interesting?

  • What do you like most about the show?

Results: Not many people switching yet. But half of viewers think the story is now boring.

Uttaran on Colors TV is again a good example of a show which enjoyed its share of high ratings as well as low share of ratings. It has not been consistent! And now it’s totally going haywire! The show started on a high note with high ratings which touched 10.0. But over a period of time it started declining and how! Again, there has been a leap in the show, plus, out of the 3 lead actors, 2 left the show. 

Viewers’ POV:

  • Do you think the track is still interesting?

  • What do you like most about the show?

Results: People switching. Track is not interesting. Worst affected show.

The show is going on since 2 years and the story is moving even on a lesser speed than a turtle! Initially it enjoyed awesome ratings of 6-7, but now, it has decreased to 3-4.

Viewers’ POV:

  • Do you think the track is still interesting?

  • What do you like most about the show?

Results: Sticky audience. Track is still acceptable.

Although people still watch some shows like Saas Bina Sasural (was in our survey) or Saath Nibhana.. but they do agree that story-line is now boring. Similar results were found for shows like “Bade Achhe Laggte Hain” (was in our survey) which people has recently started disliking because of leap in the story (same old formula).

Mrinal Jha of Undercover productions says that the time has gone when there used to be “sagas” i.e. stories with multiple characters with different trades, which viewers took time to understand and relate to. That way the stories could go on for years- original sagas include “Bold and Beautiful” and even “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu thi” which is considered as mother of Indian soaps. But as per Mrinal these days most of the stories lack depth and have just 2-3 main characters, which viewers easily get bored from.

But when we asked her why production houses still do not care, she replied- “It’s ok people are cribbing but there is less data to suggest that they are shifting (for lack of options on TV)”.

Our survey proved the hypothesis that users’ are not shifting for some shows yet, but they may start doing it soon as they do not like the track anymore.

Mrinal also talks about an interesting analogy- these days best TV shows are getting 3-5 as TRP ratings and average shows like “Bade Achhe Laggte Hain” is getting around 2-3 which means less than 1% of Indian population is watching it. Not very impressive, right?
